17 Aug 2026resource reserve update▲ GoodMajor
RISC Advisory reports Walyering 2P reserves up to 16.4 PJ from 13.6 PJ a year earlier, after 5.7 PJ of FY26 production, with maiden Walyering West C1 reserves. 1P fell to 6.1 PJ from 11.2 PJ. A tie-in FID is expected in Q4 CY2026; 16.3 PJ is contracted.
Walyering West-1 reached 3,650m and discovered a new conventional gas accumulation, with net pay in the A Sub 1 (4.3m), C1 (11.3m) and D1-D4 (11.9m) sands. Wireline fluid sampling failed, so flow testing is next. This resolves the 26%-chance exploration well in Strike's favour.
Walyering West-1 has cased the 9-5/8" section at 2,596m and is drilling ahead at 2,670m in the Cattamarra Coal Measures. Target depth is about 3,639m; preliminary results are expected early May. No new result yet.
Walyering West-1 spudded 15 April 2026 with the Ensign 970 rig, drilling at 1,006m toward a planned 3,639m. It tests a 46 PJ prospective resource with a 26% chance of discovery; early May results expected. This delivers the mid-April spud target.
Delayed certification delivered: West Erregulla 2P reserves rise 19% to 251 PJ net to Strike (from 211 PJ in 2022), audited by Miller & Lents. Some Erregulla Deep prospective resource converts to contingent; High Cliff contingent resources revised down.
All approvals are received for Walyering West-1 and well pad construction has begun, with spud expected by mid-April 2026. It tests a 46 PJ (2U) prospect with a 26% chance of discovery. About 19.6 PJ of contracted gas remains.
The West Erregulla and Erregulla Deep reserves and resources certification, promised for December, is delayed to Q1 2026. Strike says the delay is not an adverse technical outcome. This pushes back a step towards the 2H 2026 FID target.
RISC certified Ocean Hill 2C contingent resources at 180 PJ (down from 306 PJ) plus 190 PJ unrisked prospective resource. New Ocean Hill South structure adds 678 PJ unrisked prospective. Ocean Hill-2 now targeted 2H CY2026, depending on rigs and Strike's capital position.
Walyering reserves cut: 2P sales gas falls to 13.6 PJ from 38.5 PJ, 1P to 11.2 PJ from 23.2 PJ. Walyering-7 well performed very poorly. Impairment of $85m-$108m plus $19m deferred tax expected. About 24 PJ is contracted, leaving a shortfall; Walyering West well planned 1H CY2026.

Triangle says Strike and Echelon have given notice they are withdrawing from L7 and EP437 and will not fund the third well. Triangle will seek new partners. This ends Strike's 25% involvement after two dry holes; costs still under discussion.
Interpretation of the Ocean Hill 3D seismic (EP495, 100%) shows multiple well locations and possible upside to the 306 PJe contingent resource; a 3-well appraisal is expected. Kadathinni (EP503) now has prospective resources of 385 PJ best estimate; Tathra-1 targeted drill-ready in 2026.
Strike confirms Becos-1 (EP437, 25%) found no commercial hydrocarbons and was plugged and abandoned, drilled ahead of schedule and within budget. This is a second dry hole in the EP437 and L7 area, after Booth-1.
Echelon, the 25% partner in EP437, called Becos-1 a dry hole and said the joint venture will assess how it and Booth-1 affect the blocks' prospects. Repeats Triangle's and Strike's announcements; no new Strike information.
Triangle reports Becos-1 reached 1,107m with no economic hydrocarbons, only a 2m low-porosity gas sand judged immoveable, and was plugged and abandoned. Strike holds 25% of EP437. This is a dry hole after Booth-1.
Triangle spudded Becos-1 in EP437 on 12 April 2025, resolving the timing question. Strike holds 25%. Planned depth is 1,164m, with logging expected around 20 April. Target unchanged: best case 5 MMbbl, 20% chance of success.
Operator Triangle says the Becos-1 rig arrives in the first week of April, with spud the following week, a few days later than the end-March target. Pad complete. Target unchanged: best case 5 MMbbl, 20% chance; Strike holds 25%.
Walyering East-1 (EP447, 100%) logged a potential gas discovery: at least 13.4m net gas pay in the D-Sands, 16% maximum porosity. The A to C Sands were not worth testing, and the well was deepened to 3,858m. No gas samples were obtained, so a production test must confirm a discovery.
Walyering East-1 reached total depth of 3,771m, drilling through the primary A to D Sands. Mud log observations justify a logging and evaluation program of up to a week; no result yet, with the forward program to follow.
Triangle says the Becos-1 well pad will be finished by end December. Drilling is still expected from end March 2025, after the rig completes other workovers. Target and odds unchanged: best case 5 MMbbl, 20% chance. Strike holds 25%.
Strike spudded the Walyering East-1 exploration well in EP447 (100%), about 5 km north-west of the producing Walyering field. It targets the A to D Sands, the same Cattamarra Formation reservoirs as producing Walyering wells. This was the planned end-2024 well.
Strike took an unconditional FID on the 85 MW South Erregulla peaking gas power station, with $137m budgeted cost and commissioning before October 2026. Modelled pre-tax NPV is $250m, IRR 27%, with utilisation raised from 18.8% to at least 30%.
Triangle signed Silver City Rig 24 for Becos-1 in EP437 (Strike 25%), resolving the rig question. Drilling is expected to start end March 2025 after workovers. Target 1-21 MMbbl, best 5 MMbbl, 20% chance of success (earlier noted as 25%).
RISC certified Walyering at 57 PJe of 2P Reserves plus 2C Resources, down from 58 PJe 2P and 34 PJe 2C in 2022. 2P Reserves fell to 41 PJe after seismic reprocessing and Walyering-5/6 revisions, and the Walyering-7 tie-in was on track for end September.
Erregulla Deep-1 made two gas discoveries: 26m net pay in Kingia and 2m in High Cliff, with lower CO2 than West Erregulla. At 5,225m it is Australia's deepest onshore well. Flow testing is due this month. Extends the Permian play east toward Strike's 100% acreage.
Erregulla Deep-1 at 5,208m shows preliminary signs of gas-charged porous sand in the Irwin River Coal Measures and the main Kingia target. Wireline logging and final results follow.
Erregulla Deep-1 reached 4,593m and set intermediate casing. Gas shows and compromised logs hint at a possible gas zone in the Wagina Sandstone, needing further testing. Drilling continues to target depth.
Triangle reports Booth-1 reached 2,812m with no moveable hydrocarbons in any target. It was drilled ahead of schedule and below budget. Becos-1 is next.
Echelon (25% partner) repeats Triangle's report: Booth-1 hit 2,812m and found no moveable hydrocarbons. Its CEO says the well was drilled safely and expects it under budget. It points to the Becos prospect next.
Strike confirms Booth-1 (Strike 25%) reached 2,812m with no moveable hydrocarbons, a dry hole. It was drilled ahead of schedule and will be plugged and abandoned. Resolves the Booth-1 thread.
Triangle, as operator, says Booth-1 has spud in L7 (Strike 25%). Target is gas with a 279 Bcf best-estimate prospective resource (113-540 Bcf gross), to a planned 2,900m in about three weeks. Confirms the spud flagged earlier.
