AGM presentation repeating the Gaffney Cline Wombat figures (700 bcf P50 gas in place, 293 bcf 2C) and valuations. It adds other RL2 gas-in-place estimates totalling about 1.635 tcf plus the unquantified Baragwanath Anticline. No new results.
September quarter: Wombat-4 now planned for early 2009 depending on rig. VIC/P47 was relinquished. The Cape Energy merger remains subject to finance, and Lakes warns of possible delays or that it may not proceed.
Gaffney Cline's independent assessment puts Wombat gas in place at 700 bcf (P50) and 2C contingent resource at 293 bcf. This is the first formal resource figure, updating the 535.4 bcf estimate of 2006. A separate valuation gives $50m-$88m for the 2C case; shares trade at 0.4c.
Annual report: cash just over $7.2m, helped by the $5.2m share plan at 0.5c and about $3.5m profit on the Roma Petroleum stake. Wombat-4 slipped to late January or February 2009 on rig and approval delays. Golden Beach merger still pending a financier and shareholder vote.
Statutory accounts for the year to 30 June 2008, with the same four directors and officers. The extract provided shows directors' details and shareholdings but no financial figures. The ASX code is printed as GER, apparently an error (inference).

Asked by ASX why the shares rose from 0.7c to 0.9c, Lakes cites the Roma Petroleum stake (about 10.5%, valued near $5.2m under a takeover offer), the $5m share purchase plan, and a contingent reserves report due late July. It says no undisclosed information is imminent.
Letter says early 3D work shows updip Wombat potential 300 m above Wombat-2 over about 3.3 km, so gas in place may have risen. No new estimate is given; the July 2006 figure was 535.4 bcf. Wombat-4 depends on the capital raising. Chairman warns low market value leaves Lakes open to takeover.

Share purchase plan: existing holders may buy up to 1 million shares ($5,000) at 0.5 cents, about a 17% discount, closing 23 May 2008. This is half the 1-cent rights issue price. The chairman's letter says the Gippsland program has been a constant drain on shareholders.
What it means for a shareholder
1.0m new shares at A$0.005 to raise about A$5,000. That's 0.0311% dilution: every existing holder's slice gets 0.0311% smaller. If you held A$1,000 of shares (200,000 at the issue price), your slice goes from 0.00622% to 0.00622% of the company. To keep it you'd need 62 more shares - about A$0 at the issue price.
Half-year to 31 December 2007: loss of $3,405,791. Greenearth listed 4 February 2008 and Lakes with related parties holds 22.07%. The Century litigation continues. Wombat-4 is now planned mid-2008, depending on rig and funding.
Alberton-1 reached 998 m and was plugged and abandoned 22 February. Logs suggest hydrocarbons below 700 m, hinting at tight gas. Napier High-1 is abandoned for now until a retention lease is granted. Wombat 3D shoot is complete, with processing due in 4–5 weeks.
