27 July 2026drilling spud▲ GoodMajor
PV14, the first of two Palm Valley appraisal wells, spudded on 25 July 2026. The two-well campaign should take about 4.5 months, with first gas targeted October 2026. The wells aim to restore plant sales capacity to about 14 TJ/d, with at least 10 PJ over their lives.
Partner Cue reports PV14 spudded on 25 July 2026, with the programme taking about 4.5 months and first gas targeted October 2026. Partner-side repeat of Central's announcement; Cue holds 15%.
Partner Echelon reports PV-14 spudded on 25 July 2026 as the first of two wells, running about 4.5 months. Expected to return field output to about 14 TJ/d and produce at least 10 PJ. Partner-side repeat.
WM30 was air-drilled to 1,620 m and the rig released on 19 February 2025; tie-in is expected early March. WM29 has stabilised at about 5 TJ/d versus 3 TJ/d expected. The programme is forecast to finish under budget.
Partner Horizon repeats that WM30 was drilled and completed through Pacoota-3, with tie-in expected toward end of February. It says the programme was on time and within budget. Repeats Central's news.
Partner Echelon repeats that WM30 is complete, with WM29 online at about 5 TJ/d. It expects Mereenie capacity above 30 TJ/d and the programme under budget. Mostly repeats Central's news.
Partner Horizon repeats that WM29 was completed, with casing set at 1,213.4 m and drilling to 1,326.3 m TVDRT through Pacoota-3, and WM30 spudded 16 January. Tie-in expected toward end of January. Repeats Central's news.
Partner Echelon repeats that WM29 was completed and WM30 spudded, with both wells expected online in Q1 2025. Adds that initial results suggest the underbalanced drilling technique is working. Mostly repeats Central's news.
WM29 was air-drilled and completed across the Pacoota-3 sandstones, with tie-in expected late January, earlier than planned because of NT gas shortages. WM30 spudded 16 January 2025. Flow rates not yet reported.
WM29, the first of two Mereenie development wells, spudded 5 December 2024. The two wells are expected to lift field capacity back above 30 TJ/d (100% JV) and produce at least 25 PJ, with up to 6 TJ/d extra sellable under the NT contract. Starts the drilling flagged since August.
Partner Horizon confirms WM29 spud and says the two-well programme should take about two to three months. Horizon funds its share from existing cash. Repeats Central's announcement with partner detail; no new Central information.
Partner Echelon confirms WM29 spud, with about 30 days planned per well and online expected in Q1 2025. Targets are 1,450 mMD for WM29 and about 1,681 mMD for WM30. Repeats Central's announcement with partner detail.
Mereenie JV approved two development wells (West Mereenie 29 and 30), lifting capacity from 27 TJ/d to over 30 TJ/d. Central's 25% share costs about $8M, funded from cash. Drilling is expected to start around end-2024, with gas in the first half of 2025.
Partner NZOG reports its share of Palm Valley 2P reserves up 14% to 2.1 mmboe after PV-12, and Dingo up 13% to 3.5 mmboe. This is the partner's view of fields Central operates; Central's own booking follows the same day.
Central's 2P gas reserves rose 8% before production to 75.0 PJe (1P 62.7) at 30 June 2023, on the PV-12 well at Palm Valley (2P 13.4 PJ) and Dingo remodelling (2P 21.9 PJ). This delivers the reserves booking expected from PV-12. Mereenie unchanged.
Central estimates its share across the three sub-salt wells at 44.8 bcf helium, 56.7 bcf hydrogen and 272 bcf natural gas. Only Jacko Bore's 2C contingent portion (4.3 bcf helium) is contingent; the rest is undiscovered prospective resource, carrying discovery risk. Peak carries Central up to $4.8M (Jacko Bore) and $5.8M (Mahler).
The Peak Helium farmout completed on 31 March 2023, resolving the long-delayed condition. Post-farmout interests: EP82 Central 29%, EP112 35%, EP125 24%. Peak free-carries Central for the Mahler and Jacko Bore wells (capped at $20M gross each); drilling is targeted for late 2023 or early 2024.
Palm Valley-12 P1 sidetrack reached total depth of 3,039m on 8 October and was being cleaned up for a further flow test. After testing, production tubing will be run to complete it as a gas producer.
NZOG repeats Central's update: Palm Valley-12 P1 sidetrack reached total depth of 3,039m on 8 October and was being cleaned up ahead of a further flow test. It will then be completed as a gas producer.
Palm Valley-12 P1 sidetrack reached 2,063m on 26 September, about 200m into the P1. Gas is seen throughout the section and flared, but no flow rate has been measured. The first sign of gas after the failed P2/P3 lateral.
NZOG repeats Central's update: Palm Valley-12 P1 sidetrack reached 2,063m on 26 September, about 200m into the P1. Gas is being encountered throughout and flared; no flow rate measured yet. Drilling continues laterally for several hundred metres.
