28 Nov 2011drilling progress report▲ Good
Surprise-1 reached 2,599m, past the earlier Stairway Sandstone oil shows. Fair to good oil shows and heavy-gas readings continue, which the company says point to oil. Results are preliminary well-site observations, not tested flows. This text refers to December 2011 where it presumably means 2010.
New Surprise-1 plan after input from new COO Hallgren and Exploration Manager Shortt: drill to about 2,770m, log, run 7" casing, then contingently drill to about 3,450m. Horizontal or slanted wells are possible if results justify. This replaces the earlier sidetrack-for-vertical-completion plan.
Central extends the SPP closing a second time, from 28 November to 6 December 2011, so shareholders can see Surprise-1 ST1 results first. Patersons' $5.5m underwriting is extended but can still be withdrawn on market conditions or the share price.
Hunt Rig 3 re-entered Surprise-1 Sidetrack-1 at 1700 on 18 November and is drilling out cement plugs. This is roughly two weeks later than the first-week-of-November plan. Drilling still targeted for completion by about mid December; no results yet.
Dalton Hallgren, a US shale drilling engineer, is appointed Chief Operating Officer, effective once visa requirements are met. He replaces Al Thorsen, who returned to Canada for family reasons. Surprise-1 ST1 re-entry is set for 16 November, still targeting mid December completion.
Hunt Rig 3 is arriving on site and rigging up, delayed by a temporary road closure from local rain. Surprise-1 re-entry is now planned by the weekend, with drilling and testing complete by about mid December. No well results yet.
September 2011 quarterly operations report restating goals: oil first, then gas/helium, GTL and coal. Repeats the valuations and the plan for selective farmouts to large companies. The text provided is truncated, so no cash figure is visible. This version was later corrected.
Corrected quarterly report. Page 5 wrongly said the Surprise-1 re-entry was the first week of December; it is early November 2011. Otherwise a re-lodgement of the same operations report.

What it means for a shareholder
91.0m new shares at A$0.055 to raise about A$5.0m. That's 8.5% dilution: every existing holder's slice gets 8.5% smaller. If you held A$1,000 of shares (18,182 at the issue price), your slice goes from 0.00185% to 0.00169% of the company. To keep it you'd need 1,684 more shares - about A$93 at the issue price.
