6 July 2026resource reserve update▲ GoodMajor
Independent consultant RISC reviewed ADX's Sicily Channel gas play and found the Terravecchia biogenic gas play valid and ADX's resource methods reasonable. The 619 BCF mean prospective estimate for the 100%-owned permit is unchanged; RISC suggested the high case could be higher.
Surface test equipment reached the HOCH-1 site. Testing is planned in two phases, upper Hall first (up to three zones plus one contingent), with perforation expected the following week. ADX cites up to eight gas reservoirs; no flow results yet.
HOCH-1 was cased and completed with a 2 3/8 inch completion and the rig released around 15 May. Production testing is expected from mid-June once surface equipment arrives. This is the final drilling update; no test results yet.
Logs show the main 1,354-1,368 m Hall target is thin sand layers unlikely to be viable, the pre-drill key risk. But seven deeper Base Hall gas zones (1,465-1,617 m, 4-6 m net) look productive. Well deepened to 1,685 m for completion and testing.
HOCH-1 was deepened to 1,619 metres after six further thin gas sands of about 1 to 2 metres were seen below the main Hall target, based on cuttings and mud gas only. Wireline logging slipped to 8 May; thickness and quality remain unconfirmed.
HOCH-1 hit gas-filled Hall formation sands at about 1,350 metres, matching the pre-drill 3D seismic. ADX will drill to at least 1,550 metres and log before casing. A first positive sign after the earlier mud-loss delays; flow rates are untested.
HOCH-1 was drilling at 950 metres on 3 May after setting 7 inch casing at 431 metres, with about 1,430 metres still targeted in roughly three more days. No gas result yet; the 8.0 BCF mean prospective figure is unchanged.
HOCH-1 was delayed by severe mud losses at about 100 metres that cement plugs could not cure, so ADX redrilled with a larger hole and set casing to 111 metres. At 398 metres on 27 April; about 7 more days to reach the 1,430 metre target.
ADX spudded HOCH-1 on 16 April 2026, its first shallow gas well in Upper Austria (50% interest, 8.0 BCF mean prospective). It was drilling at 96 metres, aiming for about 1,430 metres in roughly 14 days. This follows the delayed March start.
The rig for HOCH-1, ADX's first shallow gas well (50% economic interest, 8.0 BCF mean prospective), began mobilising 10 April, with spud expected 16 April. The company says success could add up to 1,500 boepd, based on analogue wells.
ADX revises Welchau prospective resources to 387 BCF mean gas and 31 MMBBL mean light oil and condensate, adding updip oil and gas below the well. Reaching the gas target would need deepening Welchau-1 by about 600 metres. These are unrisked prospective resources, not reserves.
ADX confirms Welchau-1 is ready for acid stimulation and flow testing of the Reifling Formation, interrupted since January 2025 by environmental objections until a September 2025 court ruling. ADX holds 75%. Testing aims to check for updip light oil.
ADX says Welchau-1 testing is rigging up, HOCH-1 shallow gas site preparation is under way, and four Vienna Basin wells are being repaired, plus a sand-control clean-out and pump change. HOCH-1 spud stays late March 2026; workover results come in the March quarterly.
ADX's new Welchau mapping identifies an updip light oil accumulation of 18 MMbbl and gas condensate of 125 BCF (mean, unrisked) above Molln-1, shallower than expected. These are prospective resources; Welchau-1 testing comes first, then a sidetrack or deepening.
ADX says Welchau-1 flow testing restarts in early February 2026 after a workover rig is contracted, starting with acid stimulation of the Reifling formation. HOCH-1 (8.0 BCF) is the first of up to three shallow gas wells; a rig is contracted and HOCH/GOLD permits are due mid-January.
ADX lifts the Sicily Channel C.R150.AU permit's best-case prospective gas resource 31% to 619 BCF (100% ADX), from the 2022 estimate, using nearby analogue fields and three new prospects/leads. This delivers the upgrade expected; an ENI data room visit and a third-party report are planned.
ADX set its Upper Austria 2026 programme: Welchau-1 flow testing from January 2026, three shallow gas wells (HOCH-1, GOLD-1, SCHOE-1) from February, and the SGB-1 Anshof oil appraisal well in Q3 2026. It expects to secure a farm-out by the end of 2025.
ADX updates its Upper Austria prospect inventory: 24 drillable prospects with 374 BCF gas and 31 MMBBL oil mean prospective resource net to ADX, adding eight prospects and removing four since June 2023. Welchau Deep (125 BCF) and Rossberg (19.6 MMBBL, gross) are now matured; GOLD-1 is planned for Q1 2026.
ADX publishes a summary of seven drill-ready shallow gas prospects in Upper Austria with 29 Bcf mean prospective resource net to ADX, plus at least four more being matured. Farm-in talks are with multiple parties, targeting Q4 2025 to Q1 2026 drilling, a slight slip from Q4 2025.
Welchau-1 stays shut in and the workover rig has left for Vienna Basin work. Pressure monitoring, sampling and lab analysis of the black particles are expected early in the new year before any acidization or further testing decision.
Welchau-1 is being completed with tubing, packer and perforating system, and test facilities are being rigged up. Flow testing of the Steinalm formation is expected to start in about a week. No new results.
Environmental clearance for Welchau-1 flow testing was received, valid 30 October 2024 to 31 March 2025, and a workover rig mobilised on 4 November. Testing of the Steinalm then Reifling formations is expected in the second half of November. ADX holds 75%.
Lichtenberg-1 reached 3260 m with gas shows but no reservoirs thick enough to be likely commercial, based on drilling data. Logs are still to come. A dry-hole outcome for the new gas play, with cost almost entirely borne by partner MND, per the chairman.
Lichtenberg-1 was drilling 6 inch hole at 2140 m on 21 October after logging and running 7 inch casing. Oligocene targets are still ahead and no result is reported yet.
Lichtenberg-1 had drilled to 1905 m by 14 October and was preparing to log before running 7 inch casing. Main gas target is still expected from about 2500 m; no result yet.
Lichtenberg-1 gas well, spudded 26 September, was at 1288 m on 7 October after setting casing at 400 m, with about 30 days to the ~2900 m target depth. No result yet; ADX keeps 50% of the well after MND's earn-in.
Lichtenberg-1 gas exploration well spudded 26 September 2024 in ADX-AT-I, about 30 days to ~2900 m. MND funds the first EUR 4.5m for 50% of the well and its investment area, in addition to a prior EUR 0.4m cash payment. ADX operates and retains 50%.
Welchau-1 is now thought most likely a light oil (43.6° API) and associated gas find, not liquids-rich gas as predicted. Unrisked prospective resources are 12 to 217 MMBOE. Testing is targeted to start 15 October 2024; the early-September revision was replaced by this wide guidance range.
Anshof-2A hit a 6.5 m net oil column in Eocene sandstone, about 3 times Anshof-3's, with roughly 20% higher porosity; TD 2195 m. It will be completed as a second Anshof producer, with tie-in expected by end October. Positive appraisal result.
Anshof-2A sidetrack spudded 7 September 2024, targeting thicker Eocene oil sands up dip of Anshof-3, which produces about 110 bopd. About 14 days to drill to roughly 2160 m; ADX operates with a 60% economic interest. First of a two-well program.
