The Director-General upheld Tetra4's appeal on 9 April 2025 and revoked Springbok Solar's Section 53 approval for procedural defects, including failure to consult Tetra4. This favours Renergen in the solar dispute over its Production Right.
First liquid helium container filled and collected by a customer on 13-14 March 2025, using smaller 250-500 litre Dewars after large iso-container cooling problems. This ends the long wait for a first helium sale begun with production in July 2024.

Renergen issued 7,376,433 shares (5% of capital) in a private placement at R5.33, a 10% discount to the 30-day average, bringing shares to 155,047,410. Proceeds go toward Phase 1C and working capital. Price is far below R11.87 in August 2024.
Renergen responds to share price falls and press speculation: plant is making LNG and liquid helium, but the customer container cool-down continues with no end date. Plant is below nameplate, with about 75 kg/day helium. It says it has not entered business rescue discussions.
Renergen updates its dispute with Springbok Solar, arguing helium falls within Tetra4's Production Right and noting the new Upstream Petroleum Act, signed 25 October 2024, treats helium as petroleum. It warns that building without full Section 53 consent sets a dangerous precedent.
Reviewed results for six months to 31 August 2024: revenue R25.6m (up 7.7%), loss R67.5m (45.73 cents per share versus 29.91). Costs previously capitalised now hit the income statement after Phase 1 commissioning. Net tangible assets R8.31 per share.
Renergen objects to Springbok Solar building in its Production Right area without Section 53 consent or a co-existence agreement. Springbok has separately appealed aspects of the 2012 right. Renergen wants access to its gas structures protected.
JSE trading statement: loss per share for the six months to 31 August 2024 expected at 42.7–48.7 cents, versus 29.91 cents a year earlier. Attributed to lack of helium and LNG production time during commissioning. Unreviewed by the auditor.
Annual plant maintenance and Eskom power work are finished. LNG production resumed on 19 September and the helium module is being cooled to restart filling. Maintenance was run by Renergen's own teams for the first time.
Standard Bank appointed joint underwriter for the planned Nasdaq IPO and provides a short-term loan ahead of it. CEO and COO associates pledged 17.3m shares as security, liability capped at R155m. Annual plant maintenance moved to early September.
Renergen says the appeal against its Phase 2 Environmental Authorisation did not delay Phase 2. The Minister dismissed 5 of 7 appeal grounds, but required more impact-assessment information, a 30-day review and resubmission for approval. Drilling is authorised under the 2012 Production Right.
Renergen says South African regulators investigated allegations about undisclosed directorships, JSE disclosure, IFRS compliance and wastewater discharge, and cleared the company and directors. This addresses the criticism that followed the October 2023 share price fall; the regulators' findings are not shown.
Liquid helium train is now fully operational and has been producing since 19 July 2024, building inventory for a customer iso-container due this month. Renergen took operational control from the equipment maker. This resolves the long-delayed helium commissioning, though no sale is yet reported.
Renergen admits that, through administrative oversight, it did not lodge Appendix 3 director share-dealing forms with the ASX, though it had published equivalent JSE notices. The missing forms are now lodged and the disclosure policy updated.
